Elysium Arctic was conceived as an epic expedition to the high Arctic; In August 2015, a 66-strong team comprisingsome of the worldsbest known and respected wildlife photographers, cinematographers, explorers, artists and scientists spent three weeks traversing Norway, including Svalbard, Greenland and Iceland in an effort to both qualify and quantify the changes under way in the Arctic. The Arctic icy ecosystem is regarded as one of the most enchanting wilderness regions of our planet, yet it is volatile and under severe threat from the warming of the worlds climate.

Principal explorers wereDr. Sylvia Earle (Mission Blue, National Geographic Explorer-In-Residence), David Doubilet and Jennifer Hayes (National Geographic), Michael AW (Ocean Geographic), Ernie Brooks II, Wyland, Howard Shaw and Dr Cabell Davis (Oceanographer, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute). They are now ready to share their definitive body of work with the world. The Elysium Artists for the Arctic exhibition introduces a multi-faceted interpretation of the Arctic, intended to inspire greater appreciation and love for this critically important region.

The body of work of Elysium Arctic reveals the magnificence of white horizons, the charismatic icons of the polar north polar bears and seals, the brotherhood of walruses, birds of the northern sky and the ethereal attraction of hypnotic icebergs and glaciers. Through the joint arts of photography, painting, science, documentary-making and music, Elysium Arctic aims to reach out to influence a better understanding of climate change.

The Singapore exhibition is the world premiere of a collection specially curated from a selection of over 10,000 artistic images. The featured selections were curated by Rosamund Kidman Cox, editor of Wildlife Photographer of the Year & BBC Wildlife Magazine, Peter Ong, former Photo Editor at the Straits Times, and Miriam Stein Battles, Photo Editor at National Geographic publications.

In conjunction with the Singapore event, the book of the same title will be launched at the opening of the exhibition. This fine art production is case-bound, hand-sewn and printed on fine matt art paper using state of the art printing standards. Two earlier, similarly produced books by Ocean Geographic won the coveted Palme dOr at the World Underwater Pictures Festival in France.
