Dear Associates & Premiere Members,
We need your help! Please take a moment to vote for the cover of our upcoming Ocean Acidification Edition at www.ogsociety.org/covers/og72vote.html.
As we step into Q2 of 2025, we’re marking a pivotal moment—ten years since the historic Paris Agreement was signed by 196 nations at COP21. A decade ago, the world pledged to limit global warming to well below 2°C, striving for 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Fast forward to today, and every single month of 2024 has already exceeded 1.5°C, both on land and in our oceans. This is a serious crisis.
At the forefront of the Climate Crisis is the Arctic. The Northern Polar Region is warming 4 to 5 times faster than the global average, with repercussions that are devastating not only for Arctic wildlife but for the entire planet. If the Arctic collapses, it could trigger extreme sea-level rise, climate instability, and widespread ecological disruption.
To address this urgent issue, we are joining forces with Her Deepness Dr. Sylvia Earle in June to bring together 100 of the world’s most influential and diverse minds—scientists, artists, economists, engineers, media figures, and activists—for an unprecedented expedition to the high Arctic. Our mission? To witness climate change in real time, share experiences globally, and advocate for full protection of the Arctic both on land and sea.
This is more than just an expedition—it’s a legacy-defining movement. Limited spots remain for the BIG ACE - Bears, Ice, Glaciers, Arctic Climate Expedition. APPLY NOW or learn more at www.ClimateAvengers.org.
Our cover story in the upcoming edition of Ocean Geographic will explore "The Ocean’s Silent Killer." This feature dives deep into ocean acidification, a crisis that is devastating coral reefs and threatening species such as sea turtles, crabs, lobsters, sponges, and even sea shells. Don’t miss this eye-opening report on the alarming situation unfolding beneath the waves.
We also have a special offer for you to join us on our inaugural Blue Mind Green Dive and Wellness Cruise to the Maldives, happening from April 20-27, 2025. This live-aboard dive cruise aboard the MY Duke of York will take you to the best dive sites of the Central Atolls while immersing you in a thematic program designed to deepen your connection to yourself, the ocean, and the natural world. We have three discounted spots available—originally USD 3500, now only USD 2000! Book now at expeditions@OGSociety.org or find more information at this link.
Our Amazing Wonders of Japan expedition (August 17-26, 2025) is also filling up quickly—only three spots remaining! This is an incredible opportunity you don’t want to miss. Secure your spot ASAP at this link.

Please ensure your DAN coverage is up-to-date before dive travel. We also recommend reviewing DAN’s Return to Diving Safely guide: If you’ve been out of the water for a while, take time to assess your health, fitness, refresh your diving skills, and check your equipment.
