Dear OG Associates & Premiere Members
Before we delve into some important news, here’s a special sneak preview of potential covers for the next edition.. We’d love your input—please cast your VOTE. and help us decide the face of the BIG ACE collector edition. Thank you
After two years of planning and months of workshops and prep, …finally on 23 June this year, our Climate Avengers representing 25 nations arrived in Oslo for the start of BIG ACE (Bears Ice Glaciers Arctic Climate Expedition) our journey to the polar north on the MV Sylvia Earle to witness, record, the state of the high Arctic in time of climate change. Our team of 98 was as diverse as it was extraordinary: scientists, artists, musicians, youth leaders, filmmakers, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and educators—united by one mission: TO GIVE OUR VOICES TO THE VOICELESS AND INSPIRE THE WORLD TO PROTECT THE ARCTIC FOR THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY.
We returned with an urgent message. The Arctic is transforming at a frightening pace. It is warming four times faster than the global average. Where glaciers once dominated, we sailed through open waters. We stood on thawing permafrost and held in our hands snow seeded with microplastics.
The message is clear: protecting the Arctic from surface to seafloor is not an option. It is the foundation of climate stability, food security, and human health. What happens in the Arctic will happen everywhere. The Arctic’s future—and ours—is in peril.
Please join us in lobbying for protection - Add your name to the BIG ACE Arctic Resolution & Petition—sign as if your life depends on it, because it does: https://tinyurl.com/BIGACEPETITION. Please share it widely with family, friends, and colleagues.
In our next edition, we unveil Japan’s mysterious Ose Cape off Suruga Bay—an astonishing secret garden captured in a jaw-dropping portfolio by Kenji Ichimura and Mikiya Wakamatsu. Our first safari-style Japan dive expedition was so successful that we have set dates for next July—timed for better visibility and greater gatherings of sharks and deepwater wonders at Osezaki.
The Azores this year blessed us with daily whale shark encounters, Sicklefin mobulas, bait balls, Blue and Yellowfins tunas in thrilling abundance. We’ll be back next July with even more enthusiasm.
Our signature expedition for 2026 is the Wallace Line Crossing Expedition, where the Asian and Australasian realms collide in one of the planet’s most spectacular marine intersections. We begin in Palu, swimming alongside whale sharks in uncharted waters, then cross the Wallace Line into Borneo’s realm—diving with Thresher sharks, Hammerheads, mantas, giant sea turtles, and tornadoes of fish. Places are filling fast: Wallace Line 2026 – lock in your spot ASAP
2026 is set to be a landmark year of exploration: an intimate Arctic photographic focus expedition, Japan, Azores, Lembeh, Anilao, Dumaguete and a transformative Blue Mind Dive Wellness retreat at the luxurious Bunaken Oasis Resort. As always, places are limited. For details:

Reminder to Expedition Members:
Please ensure your DAN coverage is up-to-date before dive travel. We also recommend reviewing DAN’s Return to Diving Safely guide: If you’ve been out of the water for a while, take time to assess your health, fitness, refresh your diving skills, and check your equipment.
